In the August 2026 edition:

Unlocking high integrity marine biodiversity credit financing • New Marketplace stacking tool • Shared circular language

Dear fellow problem-solver,

There is a special kind of in-between feeling that tends to show up right before Labour Day.

While many of us are still in summer mode and doing our best to maintain a slower pace, we also have a keen sense that a busy autumn is right around the corner. We’re living in two modes at once—enjoying the moment, and getting ready for what’s next.

This liminal space is a good opportunity to pause and think about what foundations we need to build as we head into a fast-paced fall. How can we ensure that our vision for a strong and inclusive Canadian economy that thrives within nature’s limits is underpinned by the necessary resourcing and alignment needed to make progress?

In this month’s newsletter we are sharing what is possible when industries, systems, and frameworks align with the movement of capital to accelerate transitions to a stronger and more sustainable economy:

• The Nature Investment Hub explores what is needed to unlock high integrity marine biodiversity credit financing in Canada.

• Circular Construction Canada is contributing to a shared language and methodology to accelerate progress between the built environment sector and the institutions that finance it.

• The CANZA Marketplace has added a new program stacking tool, making it easier to find potential opportunities for climate-smart agriculture funding.

• The Energy Futures Lab shares how intention braided with multi-stakeholder effort is clearing a runway for Canada’s sustainable aviation fuel ecosystem to take off.

• The Canada Plastics Pact previews research on where capital is moving and where gaps remain on the path to unlocking investment potential in circular plastic packaging.

As we navigate these last weeks of summer and prepare for what’s next, let’s continue to strengthen our impact by rowing in the same direction—even when the current gets stronger.

Onwards,

Your Generate Canada Team
