In the April 2026 edition:

Industry built on trash • Nature Strategy • Circular plastic project

Nature or the economy? Contrary to popular belief, we don’t have to pick one at the detriment of the other.

The truth is, now more than ever, we know that it’s possible to have a thriving economy that is beneficial to nature and vice versa.

An encouraging example of this is the recently released federal A Force of Nature strategy—a signal of the Government of Canada’s commitment to the scaling of a nature-positive economy.

In their blog series, our experts at the Nature Investment Hub examine how the strategy can contribute to the closing of Canada’s biodiversity financing gap. The Hub’s take? This is an exciting commitment, so let’s make sure we get the details right when it comes to implementation.

Also in this month’s newsletter, our Canada Plastics Pact announces a project we are undertaking with Environment and Climate Change Canada to explore how upgrading Canada’s circular plastic packaging system can deliver positive returns on investment. And in a new blog, Circular Construction Canada talks to companies who are doing the work to make circular construction more viable.

Developing solutions that work for both nature and the economy is not only the right thing to do, it’s how innovative solutions get buy-in and are able to scale across sectors. It is also a core tenet of our work at Generate Canada.

Onwards,

Your Generate Canada Team
